New horse

We have had some exciting news today, we have got a new owner to welcome to our team. We are very excited to welcome a smart 4 year old, Choosy, and her lovely owner, Belinda, to the team. Bring on March when the new pony arrives.

Competitions and planning

All the horses are feeling on fine form and lessons are becoming a real regular. My youngster Ocky has come on leaps and bounds and has been to his first showjumping show, picking up his first rosette. Zamio and Zandigo have also got out competing at some BSJA and they are feeling fantastic, jumping out of their skin. We are going to try and get out regularly now as the season is quickly approaching. A lot of thought and planning is going into the season ahead, we want to make sure we make a plan to suit every horse. It is an exciting year ahead with Advanced, 3* and the Intermediate Championships on the horizon. Fingers crossed for everyone for the season ahead.

Official TRUCKER!

I have finally passed my HGV test. I have at long last been able to give my mum her life back. I’m already trucking round the countryside and loving the freedom!

South of England

It was Herbie’s turn to run again. He was in the Intermediate. He again performed a very pleasing test, scoring exactly the same mark as at Gatcombe, 30.9, talk about consistency. He then jumped a really smart show jumping round, having one, very unfortunate, rail down. he followed this up with his classic fast cross country clear to finish 5th. It is lovely to finish with him on such a high. He is now having a well earned holiday, to unwind and get nice and fat!!!!

Gatcombe

Herbie was very happy to be back out eventing in the Intermediate, having not had a run since Barbury. He did a very calm, accurate test, scoring a pleasing mark of 30.9. he followed this up with a foot perfect clear in the show jumping and a cracking clear cross country to finish a very creditable 2nd in a tough section.

Nutwell court

A great trip down to Exmouth. We took Zamio for the BE100 and Zandigo for the Novice. Zamio was a little tense in his test to score 34, he then jumped a lovely round showjumping, just having a very unlucky rub on the last fence. He followed this up with a good clear cross county, so in all he went good enough. Then onto Zandigo! He was in fine form, trying to buck me off as soon as I had got on. He did a stunning test, scoring a fantastic 24 and leading the section by quite a way after the dressage. He then followed this up with an immaculate double clear to win the section by 8 marks. I’m very proud of my boy, who I have produced myself from a just backed 4 year old, he is on amazing form.

Upton house

Dingo ran well again. He jumped another double clear round the novice, adding 8 time faults to his dressage score of 35. He is maturing all the time and is really starting to feel stronger.

Barbury

Barbury is a fantastic event, its set in a beautiful location with lots going on. It was The Undertaker’s first CIC**, so I was just aiming for him to come away having learnt a lot and to feel more confident. He got a bit tense in his test, he found the bigger atmosphere a bit much, but he did some good work and scored a reasonable mark of 55 considering there were a few major mistakes. He then jumped a lovely show jumping round, I was just a bit annoyed at myself because I got him in too deep to the first part of the treble so he rolled one pole. He then absolutely flew round the cross country, making it feel very easy. He just added 4 time faults to his score, as the time at Barbury is very hard to get. Overall I was so pleased with how he went and I know there is so much that can easily be improved on. He will have one more Intermediate run at Wilton before heading to the CCI** at Hartpury.

Longleat

I love Longleat, it is a fantastic event and the organizers do all they can to make it perfect. I felt very sorry for them, for the strange English weather played against them, going from rock solid ground a week prior to torrential rain in a week. I was meant to be there 3 days running. On the Friday I had Zamio in the BE100, he found the atmosphere of the dressage a little much, but made up for it with a good double clear, which left him just outside the ribbons. It was then back again on Saturday, with Zandigo in the novice. He did an ok test, he still is not quite strong enough for some of the movements, to score 33.5. He then jumped a lovely clear show jumping round and he flew round the cross country, just picking up 4 time faults. I was very pleased with him because it was tough novice and he stepped up to the challenge well. he finished in a creditable 5th place. I was very lucky to be early on Saturday and miss all the showers. Unfortunately due to very heavy rain that day they had no choice but to cancel all Intermediate sections on the Sunday, which was understandable, just unfortunate for The Undertaker as he has not run for a while now.

Update

All the horses are going well. The Undertaker scored a fantastic mark of 25.5 at Pontispool, but I did not run him cross country because of the firm going. Zandigo also did a good test of 30 and just rolled one pole, but again I did not him cross country. I then took the two boys Zamio and Zandigo to moreton. Zandigo went well to finish 9th. I moved Zamio up to the novice and he stepped up very well, doing a lovely test of 30 and jumping well in both phases, so all in all a good day. We have been off for some serious showjump training and had some intensive flat work lessons, so it is all go and everybody is feeling fantastic, even my youngster Ocky is starting to really come along. Off to Longleat next for three days!
