About Me

Hi, my name is Caroline Harris and I am 20 years old. I am in my second year of eventing full time and I am currently based at Coombe Cross Farm near Wincanton in Somerset. It is owned a run by Sharon Brookes, a well known face on the dressage scene. Please look at my facilities page for more information.

I love everything about the growing sport of eventing, which combines elegance, agility and stamina. This is a very special sport that allows men and women, professionals and amateurs to compete on a level playing field.

Unlike a lot of other event riders, I do not come from a family involved in the equine world and I only started riding properly at the age of 10, but since then my passion has grown. My 14h2 pony, Carrowmore Gemstone, and I started out on the show jumping circuit, we qualified for the Blue chip and scope championships, but in 2005 we tried our hand at eventing and from there on I remain completely addicted to this sport.

In 2007 I was short listed for the Junior European team after a good result at the under 18 championships where I finished 3rd! Last year I was listed for the Young Rider European team and was invited to go to their combined training day. This season I am aiming to go one step further!

I have learned so much in the past few years and am now, with professional help, slowly building up a quality string of horses. I am able to fine tune my knowledge and skills with the help of those around me and I am learning a huge amount from producing youngsters up through the grades.

I have so many aims for the future. In the long term I wish to be winning medals for my country at major championships and to win four stars around the world. My dreams may be similar to many others out there, but I believe that with all the support and the strength of those around to help me that we are strong enough to push this team to the top!
