All thanks to the team at Aston Le Walls, after all this horrendous weather they managed to add an extra day of eventing, meaning we could actually get the horses out to a party. The Undertaker was once again on flying form. He did a good test of 35, a few minor errors, but overall pleasing. He then did his classic clear round show jumping, not going near a fence and then absolutely flew cross country, making it feel all too easy. He ended up 2nd! I am over the moon with him, he is such a little star.

Well with the rain still pouring and events cancelling left right and centre, my boys have had to turn into showjumpers. I must say Im loving all this indoor stuff when it is chucking it down outside! We took a lorry load to west wilts and they all jumped fantastic, I was especially proud of my little Zandigo who was jumping in his first Foxhunter, jumping a beautiful clear and just touching one pole in a big jump off. I think he is ready for his first Intermediate if he ever gets to do it. Zamio and The Undertaker also jumped fantastic, jumping some lovely clears.
We are desperately entering events in the hope that one of them might run, all the boys are keen to get going. The other younger horses at home are also going brilliantly and when the sun comes back out they will get out cross country schooling and competing.

The lovely English weather stops play!

As we have all experienced this lovely English weather, it is not much surprise that most events have had to abandon! So my eventers have turned into show jumpers. Instead of making our way to Withington, last weekend, we went up the motorway to The Hand. We took Zandigo and The Undertaker. Both jumped fantastic, Zandigo jumped double clear in the Newcomers to finish 3rd and followed this up with a double clear in the 1m 15, he really was jumping out of his skin, clever boy! The Undertaker just jumped in the 1m 15, he jumped a good clear and then had one down in the jump off.
As my event has been cancelled, yet again, this weekend, I think I need to find somewhere else to get out jumping!
I am paying for a bit of sunshine, so my boys can get out and strutt there stuff again.

South of England

We took two horses for the long trip to South of England, The Undertaker was in the Intermediate and Zandigo was in the Open Novice. The Undertaker, aka Herbie, was up first. Unfortunately he was a bit fresh in the dressage and the wind definitely got up his tail, he did a very under par test to get a mediocre mark of 40. Luckily for me he more than made up for it in the jumping phases. He jumped one of few clears in the show jumping and a good clear cross country. He finished just outside the placings in 11th, we will definitely be working hard on his flat work before Withington!
Zandigo was feeling well and was very happy to be out. He was a little tense in his test to score 30. He showjumped very well, just a little rider error caused us to role a pole but he was jumping very well. He then flew round the cross country picking up just 2 time faults to finish 9th. In all they went very well, just a few small tweaks to work on before they both move up a level at Withington.

We had a lovely trip to our local event! It was a real treat to only have to travel 30minutes to get there. I only took Zamio this time, he was competing in his first Novice of the season. He did a lovely obedient test to get a score of 33. He then showjumped brilliantly making it all feel very easy, unfortunately I switched off at the easiest fence on the course to get a very silly 4 faults. It was then time for the cross country, when I started the heavens had opened and it was raining quite heavily, but we had to kick on and get on with it. He was jumping well, but when we were about half way round the rain turned into heavy hail. Neither Sam or I had any visibility of the fences till a few strides out, so I just got him home as best I could. He was a star, so honest, and kept jumping for me to get home clear! We got a fair number of time faults, 11, but I feel they were very understandable. I was very pleased with him and I cant wait to get out to a few more novices!

Herbie ‘The Undertaker’ is on fine fine form and very happy to be out at a party again. He did a good test for him at this time of year, scoring a very respectable 34. He then showjumped beautifully, not touching a fence to jump clear. He followed this up with a foot perfect cross country round to add a handful of time penalties to his dressage score. To top it off he finished 3rd! I am over the moon with him, he is such a star.
It was a lovely day with a lot of my family there to support and my new owner Belinda Horne was having her first experience of eventing, I hope she enjoyed her day.

Well we had another fantastic weekend, with both horses behaving impeccably and even the weather stayed on our side, with the sun shining all day. We again took Zandigo, in the Open Novice and Zamio who was having another easy BE100 run. Dingo did a good test getting a respectable mark of 32, he then followed this up with an immaculate clear in the showjumping and a fantastic clear cross country. He feels awesome this year and more than ready to step up to Intermediate. He finished 4th in a very competitive section. Zamio followed up Zandigo’s good result by doing a good test of 30 and another foot perfect clear showjumping and cross country to finish 3rd in his section. He is now more than ready to move up to Novice, which he will do at his next run at Portman.
Now we are busy working towards Gatcombe, where Herbie is going to get his first run of the year, he is desperate to get going!!!!

First event of the season!

Well what a lovely way to kick start the 2012 season. We were down at a sunny Moreton with Zandigo and Zamio. Zandigo was running HC in the Novice, as he is out of Novice points, and Zamio was having an easy run round the BE100. Zandigo did a nice test for that early in the season getting a good mark of 32, he then showjumped clear bar a very cheeky nap to the third fence, which meant I had to circle costing us 4 penalties, I was a bit of a frustrated jockey! He made up for this by skipping round the cross country clear inside the time. So one small mistake on Dingo marred a perfect start to the season, I was determined to put this right on Zamio…which he did! He did a lovely, calm, accurate dressage test to score a fantastic mark of 26, so it was all to play for. He showjumped brilliantly to jump clear, he had his temper tantrum outside the ring, Dingo could learn from this! He then flew round the cross country, clear inside the time and to top it all he finished 2nd in his section. A almost perfect day, Dingo’s showjumping is still frustrating me as I am a bit of a perfectionist. I am so chuffed with Sam, I struggled with him last season, which is why we are having a couple of easy runs now before moving up to Novice, but he has come out a totally different horse. Lets hope the season carries on this way!

I have had an exciting few days of training! I took two up for a few lessons with Sam Griffiths, Ocky and Zamio were fantastic and we came away with lots to think about. We were also kindly invited back the following day to have a one on one dressage lesson with the Australian Olympic team trainer, Bret Pabery. Bret is the highest ranked dressage rider in Australia and has been trained by the famous Edward Gal, so it was really quite an experience. I learnt so much and I really appreciate getting the chance to learn from someone as experienced as Bret . I also got to watch Sam have a lesson on his top horse Happy Times, I love watching as you can learn just as much.
I have also been busy taking Ocky for his first ever cross country schooling session, he was FANTASTIC! I am so excited by all the horses this year as they all feel fantastic
