We had a fantastic weekend at Withington. We took all three horses, Zamio and Zandigo were in the novice and The Undertaker in the Intermediate. On the Saturday it was the two novices turn. Zandigo did a lovely smooth test to get a good mark of 28. He then jumped a much improved show jumping round to jump a lovely clear. The cross country was testing for his third ever novice run, but he was absolutely amazing and made it feel effortless, picking up just 2 time faults to add to his good dressage mark and WIN his section. I was over the moon with this horse, he was fantastic all day.
Zamio did a good test to get a mark of 30, he then showjumped clear, but actually spooked and spun round in-between fence one and two so picked up 4 faults for that. He was very unlucky on the cross country to catch his back legs on a fence, so twisted in the air and I came out the side door, so I pulled him up for another day. He will probably be dropped down to BE100 for a few runs just to get his confidence up and give him some nice easy runs.
We where then all back again on the Sunday for The Undertaker’s turn in the intermediate. Unfortunately he was pretty lit up in the dressage to get an average mark of 37. He totally made up for it in the jumping phases, jumping an immaculate clear in the show jumping and a strong, confident clear in the cross country. He did pick up 14 time faults on the cross country as I didn’t feel it was necessary to run him too fast. He really has come on leaps and bounds this year and he his growing in confidence every time out. I really am very lucky to have three such wonderful horses and I am very excited by their futures.
